California: Jamul Casino to offer cashless slots this spring

March 24, 2021

A California casino is bringing cashless casino slots to its gaming floor.

Jamul Casino in San Diego County is introducing Marker Trax’s cashless slot markers to its slot and video poker games. Marker Trax will run through Konami SYNKROS casino management system.

“Cashless is the future of gaming, and we are excited to introduce this cutting-edge technology to our valued guests,” Jamul General Manager Mary Cheeks said in a statement Tuesday. “This new benefit of our Sweetwater Rewards players club program delivers on Jamul Casino’s promise of offering guests and team members best in class technologies to enable elevated experiences.”

layers can sign up for Marker Trax online or onsite via an app that provides account balance and billing information. The guest can then access their funds from the account at any slot or video poker machine. Account balances will adjust automatically to issue cash-out tickets for winnings.

Marker Trax has a partnership agreement with Konami Gaming through the company’s casino management system.

“SYNKROS’ time-tested cashless solutions in combination with Marker Trax’s leading-edge digital offering make for a highly dependable, hassle-free experience,” said Konami Gaming Chief Operating Officer Tom Jingoli.

Cashless gaming has become an option since the American Gaming Association started pushing for its inclusion at casinos in 2019. Regulators in Nevada and Pennsylvania have approved new rules to permit digital payments in their casinos, and New Jersey, Indiana, and Iowa are expected to follow suit. Tribal casinos, such as Hard Rock in Florida and Southern California’s San Manuel, are already using digital payment technologies.

Jamul Casino is owned and operated by the Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation and features nearly 1,700 slot machines, 41 live table games, and a dedicated poker room, and various restaurants, bars, and lounges.

Marker Trax was founded in 2018 by gaming industry veteran Gary Ellis and offers regulatory-compliant casino marker technology. Konami Gaming’s featured slots include the African Diamond and Ancient Dragon series.

Southern California’s Morongo Casino and Resort is also expected to launch the Marker Trax product this spring.

Cashless gaming is expected to be available at Jamul Gaming in the Spring of 2021.
